Karin Miller's Blue Crane Cushion Cover
Karin Miller's Blue Crane Cushion Cover
Description
Description
This charming, whimsical, oh-so-pretty cushion design is by Karin Miller, the inimitable South African artist known for her digital collages using South African iconography.
This cushion cover is one of three artworks - featuring the stately blue crane, the national bird of South Africa, along with a rather portly meerkat, a secretary bird, a little Karoo tent tortoise, and other friends.
The designs were printed locally in Cape Town on South African produced canvas. The printed artwork is complemented by a strip of olive-green shweshwe fabric from Da Gama Textiles, another South African icon, at the bottom of the cushion. The back of the cushion is a lovely textured upholstery fabric, also produced here in Cape Town. The cushion cover is finished off with an Oxford edge on three sides and a zip at the bottom. All the fabric has been pre-washed and there should be minimal shrinkage, if any.
This cover is designed to fit a South African pillow snugly and is shown in the images using a pillow with a fine fibre inner.
